Modelers Meeting ("Modeling the PRR in North Philadelphia circa 1958")
Chapter member Ron Hoess will discuss his layout, started in 2014, depicting the PRR in North Philadelphia
circa 1958.  It encompasses the mainline approaching North Philadelphia from the south and the first 2 miles of the Chestnut Hill branch.  Also included is the Stifftown Branch. In order to evoke both the time and place, all the structures on the layout have been scratch built to better match the prototype. As the layout nears completion some remaining projects will be discussed.

Feature Presentation ("Pennsylvania Railroad 16mm Film Spectacular")

Long time film collector and NRHS Film and Photoarchivist, Mitchell Dakelman,will present a group of 16mm films pertaining to the Pennsylvania Railroad.The first film “Progress on the Rails,” produced in1952, showcases a variety of motive power being used on the railroad, including the new cuts and alignments on the Saint Louis line along the eastern portion of Ohio. 

The second film, “Trains,Tracks and Safety Facts," a 25 minute color and sound film produced in 1956. It was filmed in the area west of Rockville, Paoli, Washington's Crossing and Riverton, NJ. The film won a number of awards. We will run a beautiful near mint Kodachrome print, which had been obtained from Walt Berko.

Finally, we have a 16mm Kodachrome camera-original film of operations along the New York and Long Branch Railroad, between South Amboy and Bay Head, N,J. featuring K4s steam locomotives. It was filmed by Bob Hart, Sr., when he was a young man and brought along his young children on several occasions.
